Adding 'hidden' product information to suppliers order information

Is there any method to embed 'hidden' product details (i.e. supplier specific codes) within the product description/page code that can be passed through the order process and out to the supplier?

We have a range of product options that the end user need not see, but the past way of dealing with this has been to install a selection button with one option (the product code) on each page which flags up in the supplier order.

Though this does work I feel it is unnecessary and another level of confusion to the end user.

Can I hide the selection box or simply add a value as described above?
