Coupon Code Issues

Hi Forum

I have some questions around how coupon codes should work and what is happening when I try to create them currently.

I create a coupon code that gives an across the board discount if the coupon is entered. If i use the 'copy link to clipboard' feature and paste that into a browser it recognizes the code, so im assuming the code is set up correctly. However, If I take the other route (that most of our customers would) and enter the code at the checkout, very little happens.

1. Firstly I enter the correct code on the first checkout page, then click next, move to the next page, but the code hasnt been used (the value of the cart stays the same)
2. Secondly, if i enter a made up code, there is no error message stating that its incorrect, and again i can move through to the next page

Im thinking that i need an update button under the coupon entry box, to activate whats been entered? But im really not sure of the code that i would enter etc.

Add something to the cart and then go to the checkout. The code that should work is SEEKXMAS08

I think, for starters, I'd revert the checkout code entry layout back to the default factory version and start from there.

Am I right in understanding that you can get this working when you copy and paste the code then?
Can you show a screenshot of your coupon set up?

you already have an update button that does need to be pressed bit yours does not seem to work. Assuming that your have set it up correctly then revert the checkout pages to factory settings and get it working correctly.

iphone accounts for less than .025% of visits to our site so i dont think it will be an immediate priority to sort. But thanks for the heads up

Stupid suggestion - but one that has caught me out many times, are you using the correct case when you type in your discount code? If you aren't it won't work. I use numeric codes now to get around this stupidity.

Hi Jan, good point, but I copy and paste the code (just to make sure) direct from the code box..... My understanding is that is should at least come up with an error message if the code is incorrect?

tbh it looks like it's broken as it did nothing when I tried it. As always checkout is a fragile place to be moding - I use coupon codes like this all the time in actinic so it's not a software problem.
