We currently use the codepath review plug-in on our website - see example here http://www.homebits.co.uk/acatalog/A...DISPENSER.html which functions perfectly. We had a problem initially integrating it but all I would say is that Andy at Codepath was extremely helpful (despite the time difference - let him explain - I don't want to ruin the suprise). As our site does not have a standard white background as per the various links to other sites which, whilst it functions extremely well, Andy will be looking into for future updates the ability to have the review matching the native background.

All in all a great product and highly recommended

          Colour matching

Glad all is working well James. Just a point to clarify. The review links can be modified to blend in with any single background colour but Soapbox does not (yet) have the flexibility to match multiple background colours on the same site as per your requirement.

So does that mean that you have to upload the site to update the page when new reviews are added?

Yes - am trialling it also at the moment, however 9.03 is quick quick quick so very little time spent twiddling thumbs. Or whatever.

What I always find interesting (and I don't think it's just my imagination) is that on Amazon after viewing some items on the website I will receive an newsletter containing information on products similar to those I had just recently viewed.

No that's what I call following up.

if you are logged in, and amazon has the golden bullet (your email address) then it logs every page you view, in a complex web of routes, somewhat similar to google analytics.

this data it then uses to build a profile of things such as, the similar items, to all the things you have viewed, and items you may also purchase, if you left a page by clicking on a link and not just going back.

                  its a real monster.

this kind of customer demographic data mining is the sort of digital madness i expect to recreate.

that is just the tip of the iceberg. there are some truly magnificent upsells, sidesells, and even downsells out there.

So what do Actinic users think is better, a database hosted by a third party that allows you to access the database to add the reviews into pages when you upload, or a system based on a server hosted database that adds reviews to the pages when the pages are viewed?

they are not hosted anywhere. They are downloaded onto your pc and added there if you intend showing them on page.

I like the feature Wiggle use whereby they tempt you to make your basket up to £50.00 to get 10% off.

They show the 'list price' and the 'discounted' price in your shopping basket as well which helps with the 'buy me' psychology.

                          site is here: www.wiggle.co.uk

So where are they stored in between the visitor entering the review and you downloading them to your PC?

My original question was based on my understanding that the codepath system stored the reviews on their server and that you paid a yearly fee for this.
