    Problem with ExtendedInfo pages

    Hi there,

I'm new to Actinic and in the process of building my first store. Everything was going well until I began adding Extended Info pages to my products yesterday.

I've opted to use a modified version of the the 'Includes Add To Cart' version template, but want it appearing in the same page as the rest of the site, rather than the pop-up. I'm then naming the Extended Info page for each product to something related to the product in order to make it search engine friendly.

However, whilst I've been able to format the Extended Info pages correctly, when I publish the site (either locally for review or to the web on the trial server) the Extended Info pages don't publish. I've looked in every directory on my local copy of the site and the HTML page simply isn't present.

As a result, when you click through the site, you try to go to the ExtendedInfo page for a product and all you get is a 404 error.

I can't see any setting or option on the site which would indicate why this is happening, nor can I find a posting on the forums or an FAQ in the Knowledge Base that will explain this.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

    Many thanks,
    Simon L

    Simon welcome to the community,

If you go to Site Options | Extended Information |Type of Extended Information Page, you can chnage from a Pop Up to open in same window.

However, most people aren't using Ex-Info unless it's to display large images these days.

If you've got a fair bit of text it's best, from a SEO point of view, to have Single Product per Page. There's a tutorial in the AUG on how to implement it and lots on the forum.

I suggest you take a look at Lee Hacket's site, he has some good info on it:

You may feel like the Ex-Info is an easier option at the moment, but if you can get your head around SPP I'd suggest you implement it now as you'll probably go to it at a later date.

      Hi Rich,

Thanks for the note on SPP. I'll look into it.

However, it still doesn't explain why my ExtendedInfo page isn't publishing. One way or the other, I'm likely to need to use it, so I'll need it to work.

      Any ideas anyone?

      Thanks,
      Simon

Try adding an Extended Info page to a new product and leave the page name at the Actinic default. See if that works or not and report back.
