    Shopping cart error

    Hi,
My site get the following error at the payment part of the checkout. Our host (hostgator) updated their server yesterday which Im guessing has caused the problem. I have sent them a ticket, but your thoughts would be great.

You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/os000001.pl on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an
    ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It appears the issue is with the host. They updated the servers with apache2 and its new security features blocks some of the .pl scripts. They have to add each script to the whitelist in order for the store to work.

Would you not be better changing to a UK based host, one that's known to work with Actinic? Saves a lot of transatlantic calls and hassle I would have thought.

        Gareth,

If memory serves me correct Hostgator were useless - they ran outdated server software and modules for a number of years (well, they did, seems like they upgraded, well, now you know the consequences). I would also advise that you move to a UK-based host, if anything it'll improve your SEO efforts and save you a few £ on expensive calls to the US.

On another note, on your home page, under 'Best Selling Items' - I would advise that you make the product images clickable instead of relying on the small 'click here for more' link. Most web users are automatically drawn to click on images.

Other than that - I hope you get it sorted sooner rather than later.

        Cheers,
        Grant

          Thanks for the advise.
I have been looking to move hosts to a UK based company. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reseller account?

            A Solution At Last!!

Hey folks, had this happen to a couple of my sites over the last couple of years, so decided to write a blog post with the solution that worked for me.

            Check it out here: http://www.thedesignguys.co.uk/hostg...an-epic-battle

I'm using Actinic V9 and Hostgator hosting. Personally i've always found HG's service & support to be first rate.

            Have a great day folks
