Upload with V9 order download with V8?

Would this cause a problem?

We are developing a new version of our webshop with V9 and are going through testing at the moment.

We will be wanting to upload the new V9 webshop soon. The order download machine is running V8.

Would there be any problems with downloading orders from a V9 webshop with a V8 machine?

This is mostly down to the VAT changes that have happened today.
We will be installing V9 on another download machine but don't have time right at this minute.

I don't think this is possible, keep it simple and download the orders into the version that runs the site. Anything else is just asking for trouble. I seem to recall there is a compatibility issue with V8 orders into V9, so there certainly should be the other way.

We always have two machines running the software, one in the IT dept for dev and the other in Sales to download the orders. This has worked fine for the last couple of years.

Looks like (and I thought this might be the case) we'll need to install V9 on another machine for order downloads. Well it makes it all nice and clean doesn't it, just wish our dear Chancellor didn't decide to make the VAT changes right on the same day we were launching our new webshop....
