Adding a second reference number to a product?

    I'm having a bit of a problem.
    1. I've never used actinic before today
    2. I've looked through every guide going several times and I still can't find anything that is helping me.

Basically I have some products which I need to put in that have an old reference number that's still printed in some customers catalogues. Personally I think the company should just send them a new updated one, but I don't get to decide. Instead I need to add the old reference number along with the new one.

So that whether the old or new one is searched for the same item comes up. Obviously I could do the easy thing of just dulicating the item and changing the reference number but I don't want to do that. Due to it possibly causing confusion when a customer thinks they are two different items, when they are infact the same one just with two numbers.

Hope that makes sense and that someone can help. :-)

You'd need about 2 weeks to read through every guide, not just a day lol.

Hows about setting up the new product with the new reference and adding the old reference number into the description field?

If you're not using the Extended Info, you can put the old reference into the Extended Info text - the search will pick that up.

Ok so maybe by read through every guide what I actually mean is pressed ctrl+f and searched for various phrases in every guide I could find and didn't find anything useful. My point was I did try. lol.

I thought about adding it into the description. I'm waiting to suggest it to my boss. But I was just wondering in the mean time, if someone who knew quite a bit more about it, would know of a better way.
