I had a call from PayPal this morning wanting to sell me their (imho) dodgy product. I considered it for less than a nano second. You can guess what my answer was.

No, only if they are Paypal registered i.e. Paypal users. Otherwise they are listed as 'unregistered'. Not normally a problem because I have all the details in Actinic.

Seems I can do a refund, so a 1p refund may get their attention.

It's happened again. This is making me look bad!

Downloaded an order, Actinic freezes, com crashes, start Actinic back up and the order's gone. I've got their money but no idea who they are or what they are buying.

                Hi Bradley,

Is this happening to all your orders or only those of a particular payment method (ie Paypal)? Have you tried placing a test order to see if the same thing happens? You may need to contact support so we can get your snapshot to investigate further.

Hi. I don't think it's Actinic itself but rather the com. Just happens sporadically. I've set things up so that I get the confirmation email now, which is some kind of back up. This last time it downloaded ok and showed in 'pending' and then crashed. I thought I had it but when I restarted it had disappeared.

I was just airing my frustration before - I know there isn't really much I can do now, but I now have 3 customers waiting for something that isn't going to arrive. And one is for over £400.

have you tried compacting your database and then doing a site refresh?

Hi. How do I do that? Compact database I mean.

have you logged on to your server and opened the session files, they take a bit of reading but they might have the contact information in them

As Tracey suggested, have you checked your PSP pending orders.

This occaisonly happens to our sites and we sometimes find the order details in PSP pending-although sadly not always.

We use worldpay which means if we do not have the actinic order details, we have the worldpay details which are fairly comprehensive, & gives you everything except the order details so you can ring the customer to find out the order details.

I think you should look at changing your PSP provider in the longer term. Worlpay is pretty good IMO although some of the other ones offer better deals I think.

Cancelling the order is the quickest way to get the customer to contact you in our experience, although it is a gamble with a £400 order.

Hope you can get it sorted out quickly-it must be really stressful for you

That sounds promising. I know how to log into my 'control panel' is that where I go for that?

Hi Katie. With hindsight I think Worldpay would have been the better choice, but Paypal is working ok despite the lack of info and, as they say, if it ain't broke..

It is stressful. I've been rather enthused with how things have gone so far. We have repeat customers and a reasonable turnover for a venture which is still in nappies really. I'm determined for customers to have a positive experience, so I consider this a big setback.

TBH paypal and positive experience will never appear in the same sentence.

Sort it now and go for a decent PSP - if you haven't got a merchant acct then WP is your only choice. Forget Nochex too.
