    v9 Disappears from view

This has been 'one of those things' that for the last week or so I've managed to live with, but it's driving me absolutely nuts - and I'm hoping I'm not the only one.

With v9.0.3 (Business Plus) open on the Design tab, if I switch applications or minimise, Actinic seems to disappear from both the task bar, no icon, nothing - the only way to bring it back up is to Ctrl+Alt+Del and right click the application and select 'Bring to Front'.

Having to do this every 5 minutes is making me lose my hair line, which at this age is something I'd like to avoid.

Is this a known bug, does anyone else suffer from this (the Actinic issue, not hair loss) - and ultimately, what can I do to solve this apart from never open another application, window or minimise Actinic to the taskbar?

I've now set up Virtual PC 2007 in the hope I can run Actinic without this problem - but the issue still exists when I open Windows Explorer to check out image and file locations within the Site1 folder.

V9's been such a farce I'm beginning (or should I say 'in the advanced stages', as I was 'beginning' months ago) to think it's time to go back to 8.5.2.

    Psychotic rant over

Mine has always done this. Especially if I'm working on other apps while actinic is loading.
Rather than ctrl alt del, have you tried alt-tab to get to it?

Yep - Suppose I could do it that way as it is quicker, but nonetheless, it's more the principle than anything else.

I'm going to try run it with the process priority set to a higher level to see if that makes any odds - doubt it.

      Thanks anyway Tracey

I've either become more focused on work or changing the Catalog.exe priority to the highest level has helped a bit (though it still does it from time to time)

        Who knows

I've seen this for ages - especially when opening Actinic. If you open another window while Actinic is loading, you get nothing on the task bar to let you switch back to it. I usually use Alt / Tab to display the list of running processs and switch to it there.

When this happens to me, which it does frequently, I find I can get it back by clicking the Actinic icon in my quick launch toolbar. The window then restores immediately, as if it had just been playing hide and seek with me.

I also thought this was an issue with Actinic but FF3 also does this though not as frequently. So is this Actinic or is it Microsoft? I am using Dual core processor on XP SP3!

Happens to me also, only on actinic though, alt-tab to the rescue.

If I'm busy with other apps when opening Actinic then this is very likely to happen to me. Only with v8 and 9 - I don't recall it happening with v7.

This happens occasionally to me with V6, usually when switching sites.

I also often get the previous sites Actinic 'Version' when switching sites. i.e. my 'Business' site often displays 'Catalog' in a pinky tab when it should be blue and say 'Business'.

My V9 still does that, Mike
                      V8 nearly always did too

It does happen occasionally but only on my Laptop, (XP SP3).
However, it also happens on one or two other programs, for example, 'Lightroom'.

I'm concerned now that my Actinic installation may be faulty. It doesn't do that ;-)

                            Try compacting the database, Richard.
If that doesn't work, uninstalling and reinstalling should 'fix' it

I mentioned this ages ago when v8 was not long released. It looks like its been accepted as `just one of these things`.

In all my time in pc work I think the only other software to have the some problem sometimes is Nero Express.

Its annoying when you think you've opened it, cannot see the tab, then open it again to find `its already running mister`. Grrr.
