Seasons Greetings - 9.0.3 and Large Sites

I was planning to move to 9.0.3 in January, have all the issues with large sites been fixed?

I'm not proud of it but I have broken actinic V9 over and over. After paying for the upgrade and MU, Since June we have been back on 8.5.3.

I would like to move to V9 as we can use some of the features but I remember the 100 hour weeks trying to fix things that wouldn't/couldn't be resolved.

So any advice is as always still appreciated!

Oh and "Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year!"

theres only one way to find out, install it and then import a v8 snapshot

do not upgrade your current v8 installation

For large sites, v9.0.3 delivers performance improvements that are very significant, and sometimes quite dramatic, depending on the individual site. There are one or two requirement in terms of the server configuration to get the best out of it, these are mentioned on the download page (www.actinic.co.uk/about/v9.php4). But even if your server setup is not ideal, you should still get a noticeable improvement.

v9.0.3 has been through a very extensive testing program and we are pleased with it's overall stability now. A few sites have had issues during or after upgrading, mostly quite specific and individual ones, there are no outstanding problems that are significant and widespread that have been reported to us. So unless you are quite unlucky, you should be able to upgrade without major issues.

The best thing to do is install it, import your v8 store, put Actinic into test mode (Web | Switch to Test Mode) and upload. Then you can test the v9 site on your own server without interfering with your live store. When you are satisfied, switch to production mode and upload again, and your v9 store will be live.

      Hope this helps
