    Snapshot Compatability?

    Hello guys,
Be gentle this is my first post if its a dumb question, I've been using Actinic at work from V8 to V9 for a while and am about to purchase V9 Business for my own website.

Now they have let me use V9 Business Plus to test my site design at work and although its only half done it would save me a lot of hassle if I can import the snapshot to my own V9 Business?

So basically I'm asking if snapshots can be imported from different versions of the V9 software, we have done this at work to outside web designers before to make changes so I'm hoping!

    thanks Ed

      Thanks

Great I can carry on adding to it until the pennies clear for my shiny new disk next week!

As an aside is there a best way to purchase, we have always bought direct through Actinic but there are some resellers offering Business V9 at £645 ex vat??

Download the 30 day trial and transfer your site into that - then after30 days you can just enter the licence code. Save some cash and don't buy the disc just ask for the licence key.

              Thanks...

Good idea, I was intent on going for Catalog but as far as I can tell this would restrict me in only using Actinic payments for online purchases, seems like Business and above are required for the Moto or mail order type payments.

I will certainly look at the licence option though thanks.

                Not entirely accurate.
You can still do offline/MOTO transactions, using Actinic Payments, with Catalog.
The only thing you DON'T get is the actual "New Order" tab in Actinic but is still the 'old' V8 method of inputting offline/MOTO orders so it's certainly not a showstopper.

Download the trial and it will allow you to switch between versions to see which is best for you.

There are some reseller that post on the forum so you may be able to get a deal off one of them.

OH can I clarify as this could save me a lot of money! How can I take an offlline payment then without the new order tab?

Secondly if I import my V9 business snapshot into Catalog will I encounter any issues other than I guess some marketing bits like also bought??

                    thanks again

There's a 'New Order' button on the 'Orders' tab and it's also under 'Operations > New Order

Ok sounds good but why does Actinic say:

Process mail & phone order payments from within the Actinic application (requires Card Not Present merchant account) (v9 and onwards only) This sentence is only ticked on business and business plus

Dunno, tbh. It is rather misleading.
Granted, only Business/Plus versions have the New Order tab (which makes such things quicker/easier) but you can still generate a new/offline order without it.
Try it and see! The 'New Order' prompts I mentioned in my previous post will have the same function in your Business install as in the Catalog version so you will see how it works

Tried it on the trial version with no problems, thanks...last question: How about Actinic Link to Sage line 50...is this possible with catalog?

                            thanks Ed

I believe you need Business to use Actinic Link to Sage L50. Check on the website you will see that that that feature is not mentioned for Catalog.
