"publish current page" for visible changes only?

Just a quick Q to confirm an assumption I've made.

Am I right in thinking that the 'publish current page' feature can only be used for VISIBLE changes to a single page??

For example, if I wanted to change a STOCK LEVEL of a single item, I presume I'd still need to do a normal upload as it's not an actual page change??

[edit] an 'upload changes to this item' option or similar would be GREAT for amending a single products stock level without having to upload the full site, btw!

As far as i am aware it uploads the cat files aswell so from my understanding would then adjust the stock.

Single page upload will change the stock, if you have a duplicate it wont change the stock for the duplicate and will let you checkout aswell.
