Try a reboot of the PC, Jet engine has its knickers in a twist. If still no good, uninstall and reinstall actinic with your latest snapshot as that will probably serve as a quicker solution.

Rebooted but still geting fatal error.

Why should I have to go to the trouble of uninstalling and then reinstalling the software. Its not as if it is cheap shareware or public domain stuff.

It is true that when Aciitnic is working, its great but as soon as someting goes wrong, there is not quick fix.

I should send Actinic a bill for the time it takes me to uninstall and reinstall the sofware.

This is professional software that cost me over £1000. Errors like this should not happen.

Sorry about the rant but I have just finished my accounts and dont need this aggro

        OK

I used the support snapshot option in the Web, Troubleshooting section and it exported OK

BUT when I try to select Export from the File, Snapshot the fatal error still occurs

It is very quick to uninstall and then reinstall, i'll happily pay for your 20 minutes time if you like. Its pointless going for a snapshot once it has broken, do you shut your window after your house has been burgled? Just learnt yourself an important lesson about snapshotting regularly it would appear.

One month actinic is best thing in the world, minor problem now and its rubbish? You don't even know this is an actinic problem. Never blame actinic for your own complacency, they have enough things to sort out.

No - you need to let the smell of vermin escape.

Andrew have you tried repairing the MDB file in Access.

Had the same many times, I usually make sure nothing else is running whilst doing the operation and using microsoft access tools to repair and compress the database. Sometimes it helps to keep everything clean like purging old deleted orders.

You can do this from Actinic with the housekeeping / compact databases option.

              Hope this helps...

I imported the support snapshot onto the work PC and that worked but when I try to export the snapshot the normal way on the work PC I still get the fatal eror.

                Strange?

support snapshot does not contain order info, maybe this is where the corruption is.

Probably need to rasie a ticket with actinic support as they are better equipped to deal with data issues

Andrew did you try the Access repair and compact tools on your database?

                      OK all sorted now.

I added a script from a developer that did not close the database. Piece of script added to the code now and Actinic now exports successfully.

So I am sorry that I ranted and I bow down gracefully and feel ashamed that I slagged of Actinic. I am sorry

Gracious apologies are a rare thing indeed. I know - I'm crap at making them.

Thanks very much for the honesty.

I quite often lurk on the community and draw attention of the development team to problems reported here. The difficulty is that quite often we get snapshots in and then can't recreate the issue.

There can be all sorts of reasons for that. Sometimes it's an Actinic problem, but hard to reproduce, sometimes it's Microsoft, sometimes, like here, a third party, and occasionally it's one of those weird things that just happens on a single computer.

Actinic aren't faultless but I want to assure everyone, again, that we do take problems seriously and I do believe that we are really getting on top of them. We are continuing to fix issues and there will be another maintenance release for v9 hopefully in this quarter.

                            Chris
