    Multi currency what if.....

I've got a site in beta that needs for customers to able to pay in GBP, EUR or USD. If I had 3 separate payment gateways set up for the 3 currencies, would it be feasible to alter the currency type and the amount passed though to the psp dependent on which payment method was chosen ?

I thought that might be the case.

As we are just at the point of adding Europe as a zone, this got me thinking ... Do Worldpay deal in different currencies, and if so how do Worldpay fare for exchange rates?

We've gone for a complete pain in the a**e solution in the end. 3 separate instances of the site running which are identical except they are in three different currencies linked to the same gateway. I've added a link to the product pages that looks like it just changes the currency but really just goes to the same page on one of the other sites. Wot a pain. Fortunately there are only about 10 products.

won't this method cause you substantial problems with search engines regarding duplicated content?

Don't know if you're finished yet, but on the link provided, I changed the currency to USD in the drop down, then clicked Go and got a 404 not found page.

              Also the same for Euro...

Glad I found this thread as I was about to post something similar. I need to split one of my sites into 3, possibly 4 versions (dollars, euros, pounds & possibly canadian dollars). At the moment it looks like I will need a worldpay merchant account for each site.

The look of the site & the theme of the products will remain the same but the content won't be duplicated exactly as some products can't be sold by us in the US becuase of licensing agreements etc. Will I still fall foul of the search engines?

The solution we finally went with is 3 separate sites for the three currencies linked to a single gateway. Will be putting a meta tag to stop spiders indexing the alternative currency versions. Not ideal by a long way but it does the job.

How have you rigged things so customers find the foreign currency sites?

A drop down selector just below the price on each product.

Errr... Selecting GBP still takes you to .eu and the USD and EUR options still take you to 404s...

I do feel the pictures above the products are a little large - it can push the product below the fold an some displays.
