    V8.5.3 Vista and missing images

Okay, V8.5.3 working on my Vista laptop...

However, I can't replace the product images...
    A product image was changed:
I can browse to the site1 folder within Vista
C:\Program Files\Actinic v8\Sites\Site1 the thumbnail/preview is the old image but if I open its the new one. Until I try to get it in Actinic, browse from the product details and I keep getting the old image.

I tried using PaintShopPro and created a brand new product image and save it to the Site1 folder.
Actinic does not find the new image..
Browsing from within Vista does not find the new image nor a search (only finds a shortcut to it)
Only when I browse within PaintShopPro can I find this new image.

Its obviously a folder issue, but I've checked and triple-checked and each time it looks to be the same path C:\Program Files\Actinic v8\Sites\Site1
    I can only find 1 site1 folder

Please help this is really making my head hurt
    Regards Steve

Thank Norman, I did search the forum without success.

      I've upgraded to 8.5.3, but I only have 1 site1 folder.

With Vista you cannot have data ie site1 in a program file folder, thus as the post Norman suggests you may need to reinstall and import into 8.5.3 with a snapshot

          Now I'm seriously fed up

I've uninstalled and reinstalled as per the thread, and imported the v8.5.3 snaphot. Made no difference.

Actinic automatically tries to put it into C:\Program Files\Actinic..
There is only one site1 folder...

The problem may be with my image processing packages, tried Fireworks 2004 and PaintShopPro. When I browse to the Site1 folder using both of these folders I can also see a Site1_old folder (within Sites). But I can't find this Site1_old folder using either Vista explorer or Actinic.

Can someone please explain what is going on?
Do I need to upgrade my image processing software too?
          Regards Steve

In addition, if I do a 'Save As' from a webpage then I can browse to and see this Site1_old folder.

            And another thing...
If I do an offline Page preview within Actinic then I don't see my website only the original default one from installation.

I have version 7.0.7 on this same laptop and that seems to work fine..

Im assuming that you are upgrading the v7 site - I have seen a couple of times that actinic gets confused and continues to link to the V7 database rather than the new one.

I would completely remove V7 and V8 - rename all folders that are left and start again OR instal on another Pc and try there

Actually the V8 was in addition to the V7.

                All sorted

Managed to remove everything retaining to the previous v8 installations and have done a whole new install into a folder on the desktop rather than Program Files and everything seems to be working..
But I will still punch Bill Gates if I pass him in the shopping precinct..
