Major issue - cannot open Actinic

Importing a hierchical import last night. This operation seemed to hang, so closed program.

Tried to open it today to see a message saying that Actinic could not either recognise the database or that the database maybe corrupt.

Then the following information was displayed:-

Your system isn't configured correctly and Actinic cannot function. This is normally caused by the database components currently installed, and is acknowledged by Microsoft as a problem (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/te...redistmdac.htm).

In most cases it can be corrected by installing the latest copy (at least version 2.1.2.4202.3) of "Microsoft Data Access Components" or "MDAC" which can be downloaded from Microsoft. MDAC 2.6 is also supplied on the on Catalog install CD. If need to download it from Microsoft, click on the first link below to open your browser at the relevant page, and then follow the appropriate links.

After installing the new version of MDAC you may have to uninstall and then reinstall Actinic to obtain full functionality.

I have a snapshot but cannot import it because the progam is not accessible. What can I do?

Did you do what the error message recommended?

Another possible option seeing as it was obviously working before..

    First - just in case:
Copy your snapshot and put it aside.
Copy the contents of the Site1 folder and put that aside also.

    Then:
Open the snapshot acd file with an older version of Winzip (such as v7 - you'll find this on the internet).
Extract the ActinicCatalog.mdb file from the acd zip file and copy it over your existing one in the Site1 folder.
    Try and open Actinic.

Uninstal actinic - rename the actinic folders in mydocs and program files and then reinstal - finally import your last snapshot

Do not understand your suggestion to open snapshot using winzip. It can only be opened using Notepad. This also applies to your note - "Extract the ActinicCatalog.mdb file from the acd zip file". Neither file has been zipped.

The snapshot is a zip file with the extension of acd. It contains all the files required for your site.

Are you thinking of the catalog export file rather than the snapshot file.
