    Discounts - "please enter a number" when using Quantity as trigger?

    Hi

    I am trying to set up a new promotion/discount using quantity as the trigger. I select quantity, put a number in the "trigger" box but when I hit apply or OK, it gives me a pop-up saying "please enter a number"!

    I have tried everything, checked the user guide in case I am missing something. Anyone else had this issue, or know what I am doing wrong?

    I'm setting up discounts and seeing the same thing. It's a known bug in Actinic and why the **** it wasn't fixed in 9.0.3 I have no idea.

    Here's Traceys post from July last year:

    Hi,

    There is a workaround for this until it gets fixed:

    - set up the discount based on 'Value including actual tax'
    - in the trigger field enter the quantity (e.g. a whole number)
    - close Actinic
    - browse to your site folder and open 'ActinicCatalog.mdb' (take a backup first)
    - double-click on the 'Discounts' table to edit it
    - find the row for the discount you added - 'sDescription' field will contain its name
    - change the 'nDiscountBasis' field to '3'
    - close the database
    - open Actinic again and check/edit your discount and it should now be based on 'Quantity'.

        I have just come across this problem and the above answer. I am using 9.0.4 - just recently upgraded and wishing I hadn't. My site was working fine before (apart from the New Orders Tab not working correctly) and now I am having all sorts of stupid problems and . . . the New Orders Tab is still not working. Are we going backwards here?

        Any idea when this will be fixed?

        Also, maybe a silly question, but, I need to set up a load of discounts - do I have to do this work around for each one?

              The release notes will tell you what's fixed as i'm sure you already know, i don't know myself whether this has been.

              I was merely pointing out that 904 that you recently upgraded to is not the latest version, so if you are having problems, it seems sensible to be on the latest version and see if the problems still exist there first.

                It may seem silly, but I prefer to not upgrade to the latest release straight away and try to see how many people's websites blow up when they upgrade first. It looked like 9.0.4 was safe, but has caused me lots of problems. I won't be risking it with 9.0.5.

                  Noone said silly, it was only released a day or two ago, i just thought you may not have realised, that's all. If your site is broken anyway, i'd try it, what worse could happen?

                    Checked the release notes and it is not there for 9.0.5.

                    So, anyway . . . have done the workaround and it is not as scary as it initially looks to someone who doean't normally dabble in such things. Quite quick to correct for each discount once you are there.

                      We've got this same problem but when I click on the .mdb file, it doesn't know what to use to open it? I Googled for .mdb and it says it an Access format file. Do I need to use Access or is there another method which doesn't involve me buying MS Office?

                          I did this and it worked great, many thanks.
                          After it worked i added a 10% discount (trigger qty 3)to the existing 5% which was triggered by qty of 2 but today i see that when someone ordered 3 items it only gave the discount for 2, any ideas as it all seems to be correct.
