    Network setup test fails

Well I managed to get the network configuration to work by omitting the option to send automatic emails for each order. However I added these on the email settings part of the network settings page afterwards.

When I clicked Test however it fails with the following message. Has anybody any idea why? I've sent off an email to my host to check the values listed below.

The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check:
    - the 'Path to the Perl shell'
    - the 'CGI script extension'
    - the 'Path to CGI-BIN'
    - the 'CGI-BIN URL'
    - the amount of web space left on your server
    - if your server is configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts
    - the permissions on the server:
On Linux/Unix based servers the permissions should be:
    cgi-bin (755)– drwxr-xr-x
    Online Store Folder (777)– drwxrwxrwx
On Windows based servers (need to be checked with the hosting company):
    IIS
    cgi-bin = read/execute
    Online Store Folder = read/write/execute
    NTFS
cgi-bin = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory
Online Store Folder = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory AND the IUSR_<servername> account needs to have 'Change' permissions on the directory

    Thanks

      Hi Hopeful
when you say you got the network configuration to work, what exactly do you mean? (as you then say you get an error when you TEST)
      Kind Regards

          Hi Sean, I mean
          1) I went to Web - Configure website details filled in all the details requested except the info for setting up automatic email responses. It was this step that worked in that I was able to click the Finish button and get no errors

          2) I then went to Web- Network setup and entered separately the email details I'd left out in step 1 and saved this additional info.

          3) Whilst still on this page I clicked the Test button and that is when I got the above error.

ok log on to you cpanel, create a new ftp account with access to only the public_html area

then use the settings i pasted above, obviously changing the url and password stuff for yours - job done see you tomorrow (you cant use you main ftp login for actinic without messing with the settings and i could never be bothered in working it out as there is no point)

                  Well
                  1) managed to get another ftp account and set its directory to /public_html then
                  2) went to Web - Configure website details and ticked Configure New Network Settings
                  3) entered new ftp account details and ticked Use Passive FTP Transfer
                  4) The Wizard verified as ok the Proxy Setup, DOwnload ISP COnfiguration File, Website Address, FTP Directory Paths, CGI-BIN Address
                  5) Ticked 'Yes, send me an email when a new order arrives and also 'send the public customer an email' Entered email address and SMTP Server but left blank User name and Password required
                  6) I now get the message from my other post namely
"The wizard received an unexpected exception while testing the web servers Perl environment. "

In answer to the last question on that post, the host is running Linux CentOS 5.2 Standard.

Also on other post is suggestion to try local host in the smpt field, would this be exactly as typed?

Do you need the latest network settings?

                  cheers

Are you serious - negotiating, takes about 15 seconds to add additional resources to an account and i can understand extra mail boxes, web space and domains but not ftp accounts

                        It didn't like localhost

I'm actually using v9.0.2. I see from your last link there is an option to import these settings so I'll give it a whirl. Which do you think I should use 9 or 9.0.3?

Get a package off Tametheweb you will be up and running in an hour - you have spent far too long trying to get this working IMO

only use the v9 the 9.0.3 have the extra fields for the compression upload.

these settings work using standard server setups below
                            linux
                            public_html web folder
cgi-bin under this folder with permissions set to 755

Progress of sorts I think, well at least a different error. After numerous miscellaneous changes now get:

'Your Catalog URL appears to be invalid. The files uploaded to the given 'Path from cgi-bin to online store folder', can not be downloaded via the browser on the given Catalog URL. These two access routes don't point to the same destination on the server.'
