    Simplifying 'Add to Basket' confirmation

    Hello everybody

I am currently designing a new site in v9 (my first) and want to use an improvement to the 'Add-to-Basket' routine that I have seen on other sites but don't know how to do.

The standard routine has three pages:

Page 1 - Customer clicks 'Add to Basket' button in product page
Page 2 - Customer is asked to 'confirm' or 'checkout'
Page 3 - Shopping Basket is displayed for a few seconds, then page reverts to catalogue for continued shopping or into checkout process

What I want is one page with a pop-up confirmation message - ie. the customer clicks the 'Add to Basket' button in the product page, and a message saying 'Item has been added to basket' appears on the same page, after which the customer can continue shopping or choose to click the 'View Basket' or 'Checkout' buttons in the normal way.

If it is relevant, I am using 'quantity in basket', so there is no need for the customer to be able to alter quantities when initially adding-to-basket

I'm sure I have seen discussions about this modification on the forum but I cannot find any references to it now. I have read through all the 'Stinkyink' checkout-speedup modification but I am not clear whether this is that change or not - the Stinkyink site does have the 'popup' I want, but it also has other changes to the the checkout pages (although the same number of pages as standard), so I'm a bit confused about what the Skinkyink modification does.

Can anyone tell me if the 'Add to Basket' modification I am looking for is the 'Skinkyink' modifcation, or, if not, where can I find out how to do the modification I want?

    Many thanks in advance

You're probably thinking of this thread:

Gabe seems to have removed his version. The link to stinkyink shows their version in operation but I haven't seen the code for this.

Thanks - yes, that was what I remembered seeing...but I take it from what you say that the Stinkyink modification does the same thing as well?

I'll probably have a go at implementing the Stinkyink modification and seeing if it does what I want...in the meantime does anyone have any examples of the Stinkyink modification working on other sites that I could look at? I looked at a couple of the sites mentioned in the original Stinkyink thread as having installed the modification, but neither of them seem to have the pop-up thing working.

        Many thanks

AFAIK the stinkink code on the forum is just for speeding up the checkout. It has nothing to do with the add to cart mod that's discussed in the thread I've linked to.

Thanks - I'd just come to that conclusion myself after downloading the Stinkyink code and looking at it in Notepad.

So I'm back where I started - I don't know how Stinkyink made the 'popup' work, and the Gabriel Crowe version appears to have been abandonded / deleted.

            Can anyone else help?

            many thanks

If anything on this is still in the forum, it will have 'ajax' mentioned in it and that would therefore be a good search term to try I reckon.
