    UK Mainland Delivery

    Helli,

I'm attempting to setup a dleivery method that does not conform to Actinic's notion of countries.

We have problems shipping some products to Northern Ireland & to some of the Scottish Highlands & I wondered whether we could set up different zones in order to do that.

Can anyone tell me how this might be done in Actinic?

Yes set them up as countries and then have shipping and tax handling setup to match what your site currently has setup. Mimic the fields completed for the existing country setup in those areas. Make sure you setup a correct tax code on the country you setup in your locations.

Note that some Payment Service Providers (such as Paypal and HSBC) require ISO codes for countries to be passed to them. If you are using either of these PSPs, setting up 'areas' of the UK as countries won't work as there is no valid ISO code for them.

In that situation, you just add UK2, UK3 etc. as the ISO code as it only reads the first 2 characters I believe. I have a site using HSBC that has these areas setup as countries - http://www.atlanticshopping.co.uk/ and that works fine.

You can set them all to use UK though, if you create them all individually in the locations option, in Actinic, can't you?

Ive just done this...as the client didn't want to ship to anywhere apart from the UK mainland (same vat) I removed all the countries apart from UK and added the separate states/counties to it.

Then added each county as a new zone/class with different pricing...phew took some time.

                  Thanks everyone.

But how do I add an area as a different country (Northern Ireland, say)?

And how do I remove that same area from the UK zone that was there initially?

Actually, this was originally V8... It seems too much like a coincidence that we did individually though... Hang on I'll check a pure bred V9

Go to 'Settings | Locations' and click the '+' in the top left corner of the 'countries' grid to add a new row. Enter 'Northern Ireland' and add a 'code' (UK1 etc, especially if using HSBC).

To remove it from the UK zone, I'm assuming that it has been added to the 'UK' location as a 'state', so check in 'Settings | Locations' again and highlight the 'UK' location. If there are 'states' for the UK then they should appear in the 'States' grid to the right. Right-click on the ones you want to delete and select 'Delete Row'. This should automatically remove it from the shipping zones but you might want to check by looking at the properties of the 'UK' zone.
