Force a Product

Hi,

I am looking for advice on how I can force a product to be added to the cart before a customer checks out.

My site sells prescription glasses, I have setup the prescription as a free product and would like to 'force' the customer to add this product before they can checkout.

Is this possible?

Hi,

There is no way of forcing a product to be added to the basket unless it is a standard product (ie doesn't have any choices or info prompts). Even setting it up as a discount only informs the customer that they could add another product to the basket.

However, for standard products the way to do this would be to add a non-optional component to your products. Set the 'prescription' product as the 'associated product' and select 'component as separate order line'. Once you have set it up for one product you can copy and paste it to all of your others.
