    'acatalog' question.

    Hi everyone,

First post here. I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I'm currently using another CMS and have some great ranking pages. I'm looking to move over to Actinic, but I'm concerned about the prefixed 'acatalog' on the actinic sites I've seen.

Obviously, I could 301 these pages, but the CMS I'm using holds my domain names, so I'm trying to move things over with as little disruption as possible. A move to Actinic would involve recreating the site in Dreamweaver (for example) and then 301'ing to Actinic.

If I can remove the acatalog prefix, life would be a lot easier.

    Many thanks in advance.

It can't be removed as a standard option, however it can be renamed. It can be removed altogether though (details in the forum from ages ago) but it is generally regarded as a bad idea because if you do not fully know what you are doing, then you can totally cock an actinic site up. Hows about renaming the acatalog folder to what you want and redirecting to that location as a happy medium?

Thanks for the reply. I am a little puzzled about the whole 'acatalog' thing and I'm going to have a play with a friend's copy of Actinic to establish what it's all about, but from my humble experience, surely it only a matter of hierarchy. If you have a 'root' domain, then all other pages will be a 'child' of the root. therefore if you have for example:

      mydomain.com
      mydomain.com/page1
      mydomain.com/page2

and so on, things should work fine. Please tell me I'm right! Hehe.....

Acatalog can easily be renamed but removing it will require you going into the database and removing all references in all stored links manually .
