ok, ive imported from V7 to V9 (to many product to do it one by one)

But theres a few issues that i need help with until i get up to speed with V9.

    1. Every page should be centered?
    2. the fragment on the brochure pages is outside/below the box ?
    3. best sellers list border is half missing?
    4. the shopping cart is all over the shop! you have to scroll down to see what you've added and the right bars are not lined up.

Please help, This is a live site

Firefox and firebug it then and see what is styling or causing the issue. You are contravening the methods that most people seem to follow. First of all very few of us actually upgrade a V7 site, we just start afresh as it is too problematic most of the times. Secondly, we don't put a site live until it as you want it. V9 and V7 can run alongside each other, so there is no need for a rushed launch.

Put the v7 site back up. Switch v9 to test mode and fix the problems then go live.

In general you will only get someone to put in more effort than you, if you are paying them for their services. This may be your best avenue of attack if on a short timescale. It took many of us quite a while to get to grips with V8/V9 from V7, so it probably won't happen overnight for you i'm afraid.

You will not learn v9 any time quick. Many of us have been using it for years and still don't know it all.

Read all the stuff about v8 from a few years ago and you will see that what lee has said is correct. Come back in a few weeks when you know the answers to the basics

                    Are you two for real!

If you cant post a helpful post..dont post at all.

Im not asking anyone to redesign my site, it needed a couple of tweaks that i cannot seem to work out.

What the hells this forum for if all you guys are doing is saying "bugger off and read up on it"!

Can anyone else help, ive switched it back to test mode.

Major Layout problem has now turned into just a couple of tweaks, which one is it?

Many people get helped Kez, far more than what you probably need, but it is the method in which the need for help is posted. You seem to think that this is a free design service, you are very wrong, when was the last time you sent one of your products out to just 'help someone' out? Never presume that there are people around who are prepared to put in more effort on your site, than you are, it really will not happen too often.

Your thread was labelled 'Major Layout Problem' - this was your first mistake, that is a useless and selfish thread title, so do have a read on the forum guidelines please. You could perhaps also explain what you have done to try remedy things. Surely you have read how JUNK cgi linking is and the poor SEO generally attached to the smart theme. If NOT, why NOT? There's your best bit of free advice, change your theme and be prepared to get stuck in yourself or get your purse out.

It was major when the site was live, I really did want this sorted today.
And it is just that...tweaks to the layout.

Thats a typical answer from an actinic web designer. someone asks for some advice and help.....and you think its unfair im asking as im not paying you !

This forum is for users to help other users, Not specificly for actinic web designers telling us how shit we are.

So any V8/V9 users advise ?

I never intimated you were shit, I was more on the lazy sod/naive train of thought, but i don't know you as well as you do, so will bow to your experience in that area. I did intimate that your site theme was shit, which it is, you will not find one person to argue against that. But you keep having your strop, while your visitors experience a site that simply doesn't work and convince yourself that an actinic web designer is not the exact thing you need right now. You have probably lost 90% of the people who could possibly answer this problem for you. Actinic web designers, pah who needs 'em.

I think you will find that more than likely 90% of this forum users are not actinic designers..

But people like me who use actinic to sell online. who have also come across this or similar problems that could possibly help out.

I am far from lazy or naive, I have spent hours upon hours trying to figure out whats wrong to then find myself asking for help.

Only to find on a forum thats here for peoples help to be told to basicly go away and read up on it and now to be told i am lazy and naive because i dont have the answers.

We are not all actinic guru's like you

                            Well done.

                              My advice:

Take your v9 site offline and put your v7 site back up whilst you sort things out. I bet there will be more design type issues that come out of the woodwork by ugrading your v7 site to v9 than you are seeing.

You are using a standard theme so you can easily doctor the v9 theme to be similar to your v7 site. When you've done that export your v7 products and import them into v9.

Upload your v9 site in test mode and debug errors with Firebug. Then only after everything is tested go live.
