Removing a component from the Shopping Cart

    Hi,

We've got a series of software titles, with associated components as optional special offers - for an example see Community Analysis Package, the 2nd item down on:

    http://www.piscesconservation.com/sh.../ps-stats.html

On the Shopping Cart page, the main software and the component are displayed on separate lines, priced individually - which is as it should be. But, there is only one tick box to remove the item, so if a customer decides he wants the main software, but not the component, he has to remove everything, then go back and add the software to his cart again.

Is there a way to have the component removable individually from the Cart? Plainly I'm doing something fundamentally dumb...

    TIA,
    Robin Somes

    Hi,

The component quantity is linked to the product quantity so you cannot remove the component separately when viewing the cart.

OK, thanks for clarifying that. Is there any difference in the latest version?

      Thanks,
      Robin

No, I'm afraid that there has been no change in this area.

          Robin,

IMO you shouldn't be looking for ways a customer can remove items from his/her cart at such a crucial point of the sale.

If he/she has added the component, even if they are only 50/50 as to whether they want it or not, do not give them the opportunity to back out of it.

It's a very good point I was trying to think through it from the point of view of the customer, not the company. Bad move!

            Thanks again
