    uh oh

light fuse and stand well back
    LOL

I usually work to 1000 or somewhere around there, sometimes narrower if I want a background/border to show.
But yes, I cater to the 1024 crowd (as dimishing as they probably are!) if that's what you're asking.

If you have GA have a look at what browsers are being used by your customers and base your size on that.

        A standard width is 1024

according to the stats less than 2% run on monitors under 1000 pixels so 1000 pixels it will be

shame the new layout we are doing would look great at 1400 pixels, looks good on my monitor but would look bad on someone running at 1024x768

I am surprised at nearly 32% of our visitors run on monitors set to 1024 x 768

          thanks for the quick response

          regards

ditto that 32% on 1024 here too

Interestingly, the 1280 crowd actually exceed this though with
              31% at 1280 x 800 and
              11% at 1280 x 1024

I'll tell you what else is interesting

                Firefox users 16.8%
This is a drop from what it used to be..IE, obviously, outweighs that considerably with 76.3% BUT over 22% of THOSE are using IE6!!

That means I have about the same %age using IE6 as using Firefox!!

                Scary thought

Don't worry Dave, it's not true really, 1001 or 980 is, forget the rest. (it was a 'you had to be there' joke)

It's a historical thing Dave, nothing personal to you. I've removed it in case of any confusion.
