Does Actinic work fine on a Windows Server Small Business?

    Hi,

I am working on a number of sites now using Actinic and would like to start to host my own server with my sites on.

I have looked into buying a Dell T300 Server:

Can anyone tell me if this server would be suitable for running Actinic Sites on?

Are you intending hosting your own sites for testing?
Or are you wanting to manage a number of Actinic sites locally om the machine?

If you want to host your sites for testing then I would recommend you use Linux instead of windows as getting a windows server up and running correctly can be difficult and there's very limited good info around on doing it. I used to have my own test server but find it's easier just to get some decent hosting, add subdomains and test online.

If on the other hand you want to run Multisite/Multiuser then I think a small business server should be ideal. However hHave a dig around on the forum about MultiUser and also double check directly with Actinic first re comaptibility of the OS.

"Does Actinic work fine on a Windows Server Small Business?" - yes, I have used it many times. You will need to ensure IIS is active on the server.

Duncan is right, configuring Actinic sites on Windows servers can sometimes be a challenge, but once you know what you are doing, and you have one configured, the configuration can be applied to all your sites in minutes (seconds using IIS7).

      Cheers
