    Surcharges and free shipping

    HI There,

My client would like to offer free shipping for orders over £500 the problem is he has other shipping delivery options that include a surcharge.

My question is how can I set it up so the customer gets free shipping over £500 but still pay a surcharge?

    All advice welcome.

    Thanks

    Hi Angi,

If the surcharge is dependent on which shipping class is selected then I can't see a way of getting this to work. Is the surcharge a fixed cost? At the moment, I take it that the surcharge is built into the shipping costs?

I will ask development if there is a perl change that could achieve this for you.

      Hiya,

What I did was setup new classes and set it so when they choose before 9am they have to pay the £20 surcharge up to 20kg and then 30p per 1kg on top but I also added the normal shipping charge of £5.95 on top so it works out as £25.95 so I need to remove the 5.95 when they spend over £500 so only the £20 is still remaining.

      Below is my classes.

      UK delivery before 9am = £20
      UK delivery before 10.30am = £12.50
      UK delivery before 12pm = £6

      Hope this make some sence?

      Thanks

        Hi,

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I've been trying some script changes but unfortunately, I can't get them to work and it would seem that a proper solution to this would be quite complex. I've added it to the wishlist for you.

Angi, why don't you make any orders over £525 is free shipping and forget the surcharge?

I think if you offer free shipping over a certain value and then a customer is hit with a shipping surcharge, they may be a little disgruntled any way? Especially as it's not mentioned on your promo image.

My reading of this thread is that the shipping surcharges are just applied if the customer chooses one of the early delivery options.

                i.e.

                UK delivery before 9am = £20
                UK delivery before 10.30am = £12.50
                UK delivery before 12pm = £6
