Actinic Closes Whilst Making A Snapshot

I have successfully imported a large database into Actinic without any errors but now Actinic just shuts down when trying to make a snapshot.

I'm just about to throw my Actinic software into the skip.

    Any pointers would be appreciated.

    (Compacted etc already)

**Thinking: Why aren't the same database checks done during an import as done when uploading or making a snapshot?**

I've a skip outside my house if you want to pop round Duncan!

Make sure the online price layout selector is not empty. If it isn't then it will be an empty or faulty selector somewhere IMO. Does an upload trigger the same response?

Yes, same problem on upload as well. Will check for empty layouts again.

Check brochure navbar selector, online price layout and stylesheet selector as your first three. Empty them and them put them back in. I give those 3 actions a 75% chance of curing the problem.

Thanks. Will take a look tomorrow - a break will help sort my head out too!

Duncan, it's probably not releated but I had a site that wouldn't snapshot last year and eventually tracked it down to a custom variable I'd created. As soon as a got rid of the CV snapshot was fine, however upload wasn't effected.

Keep it up mate, you must be able to see the light and the end of that V7 tunnel by now?

I've reapplied my new layouts at site level and I can now get the page checks to pass with execption of a minor php coding error on two pages.

Thanks for the support guys. It was doing my head in.
Time to look into the php code then to try a snapshot...

Preview Store page checks pass ok and the store previews but I'm still getting problems on upload - haven't even bothered to try a snapshot yet.

I can find no empty layouts or selectors. My method to get this far was to:
                  - Design a new site in v9.
                  - Take a v7 snapshot and import it into default v9 site and let the upgrader do it's job then export the products from that v9 site.
                  - Clean up the export completely then import into the new v9 site.
                  - The import was clean with no errors.
                  - I can preview the complete store withour any errors yet I stil get upload issues where Actinic either hangs on page checking or just shuts down without a crash dump.

(Thanks to those who have given me pointers so far BTW)

Try draging the database over into a default site and see if that works - then drag it back

Will do Mal - thanks. I'm busy trying another upload again - no errors so far. Will give that a go if it fails again.

Apologies to all for the outburst above but I don't think I'm alone in my thoughts.

I've disabled FTP compression which I think is making matters worse. I've been using it enabled on other smaller stores with no problems on the same host mind.

Perhaps there's a faint light ahead.

On a side note - does Actinic v903 only use one FTP connection to upload?

It's host dependant I know but when I FTP manually I use 5 simultaneous connections and it's considerably faster than when Actinic uploads.
