    V8 and PHP5

    Hi,

I run my site on Actinic V8. For some reason my hosting company would like to move my site to another part of their system, which offers PHP5 instead of PHP4. Will this affect the working of Actinic V8 in any way?

PHP runs on your desktop prior to upload as I understand, not on your server. It is embedded into the actinic application, not used online as standard.

This should not affect Actinic at all but check your network settings pass the Network Test after change-over to make sure your server permissions are still correct.

        Hi,

wouldn't it be a little late to check after the change over? What if it does indeed somehow affect Actinic, either when uploading changes, or simply customers checking the site, logging in, etc?
I'm totally unfamiliar with the workings of PHP etc, but do need to know what to expect when this change happens, so a definitive "yes" or "no" would be most welcome. And if it does indeed affect the workings of Actinic, what do we do about this? Not changing over does not seem to be an option. Anybody out there who has had this experience and wishes to share?

Forget PHP. Actinic does not use it on your server (as you've now been told thrice).

No one here can tell you whether or not your unnamed host and unspecified new server will work or not. How can we?

If you hosts say that everything else will be the same then that should be enough.
