upload fails due to cgi-bin error

I'm attempting to REFRESH my website for the first time using actual server settings rather than the trial hosting.

Actinic gets about a third of the way into the upload and then fails, giving a cgi-bin error (suggesting its either permissions, disk quota, or cgi-bin location thats the problem). All these things have been checked and double checked and are not an issue. Permissions are fine, disk quota - loads, cgi-bin location, fine - in fact the first time I attempted the upload a few of the script files appeared in the cgi-bin. Having contacted the hosting company, they have confirmed permissions are correct and also suggested I delete and recreate the cgi-bin as a precaution. This hasn't made any difference, except now the failed upload doesn't put anything into the cgi-bin (unlike the first attempt).

Its almost as if Actinic is just giving up - alot of the /acatalog/ directory files are uploading (mainly images) which I can browse to, so clearly the location etc is correct.

Has anybody else experienced this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?

    help!
    Thanks

Best go back to Network Setup and run the Test there. Report what happens and also who your hosts are and what type (Linux / Windows / etc) of hosting it is.

There are also FTP options in the network setup that you can fine-tune.

Some hosts protect their cgi-bins and need them to be created at a specific level on the server. When you do a test the cgi-bin usually populates with a handful of test scripts... are you not seeing these?
