Number of Files in catalog

Is there a limit on the number of files that a server can handle in the acatalog directory?

I currently have about 20000 and I'm seeing some problems with returning a full LIST fof the acatalog folder from the server using an FTP client. I'm wondering if this affects Actinic when uploading.

I've noticed this too.
I had wondered if the shortened listwas a limit in the FTP software though?

I think it is the case as some clients will return the listing truncated, whilst others won't even return a listing at all. Firlezilla truncates the listing, FireFTP doesn't return a response at all and eventually times out.

I wondered how Actinic manages this.

I have noticed this too, have never got around to investigating but filezilla never shows me the complete list and no i think of it neither does wsftp pro
