    Possible Bug, Brochure Layout

    Hi,

I have copied the main Two Header Bars - Two Sidebars - Horz Nav Bar
layout, and added some html to it. and save it as a new layout.

I have now set the home page brochure layout to this new layout in the section details options.

But the layout editor still edits the original one, and the design view shows the old layout also (same if I upload)

    Is this a bug ?

    Thanks.

Can you clarify what the above means, I don't think that makes sense. The layout tab of each brochure page OR section allows you to set the overall template to be used for that page. Most sites adopt the same template for both to keep things consistent across all pages. I've never seen a bug in this area myself, I suspect you have confused something somewhere. Does the layout tab offer both layouts to you?

Ok, I'll try to explain a little better...

The home page is the page I am editting, although the main overall layout is the same as all the other pages, I want some text on the homepage (optimised) and not actinic generated, as actinic sticks it all in a big long crappy line when you upload, so it is impossible to read (sorry just another thing I don't like about actinic

So the overall layout for my brochure page is the same as all the others, but with some of my own html in it.

When I have the home page selected in the content tree, then I select page details, and then layout tab. I set Brochure page layout to my new layout.

Then click back into Layout code, and the page loaded is still the old layout. (I have content page selected from the select page type dropdown menu at the top.

What you have selected on the design tab is immaterial, that has no bearing on anything for what you are doing. If you want your own html on just the home page, why not add a text only fragment, and embed your own html into that? You have full control of the content then and no hassle. I've never needed 2 templates to achieve anything, so pretty sure you won't either.

Are you saying that you have an overall template, lets say called "sitetemplate" and you have created a second one called "sitetemplate-home" and selected this one on just the home page and it has not worked?

          Exactly it

Problem with using a fragment is that I want to use some actinic variables like footer area again, and a couple of others ... is that still possible?

Like I said i have never had to do it once (circa 100 sites), so I can't see why you do. One would need to see it of course to confirm 100%. An overall site template provides a big empty box in the middle for you to do what you want, changing content in the central area is not something a new template is required for. Fragment layouts and list layouts are your friend usually.

Fair enough, but it is still a bug right ?

It's either a bug or PBKAC, that's for sure. Sounds like you've done the right things, but appearances can be deceiving . Register a query with support, see what they say.

In fact, the fragment option is not going to work for me, on my home page I want to show a box under the main page with some other text in, i.e. not within the fragment list, under the footer ...

By the sounds of it I am not going to be able to do this ...

I will have to create a complete seperate home page, and not use actinics generated one, as I did on version 7. Great.

There's a condition called "isbrochurehomepage" you can wrap that around any of your code to just go on the home page, it won't show on any other pages then either.

Why don't you just add the code to the original layout and wrap a block around it so that it only shows on the homepage?
