Database Transfer?

I need to transfer the actinic database to a new machine as I'm having a problem with Actinic running on this one. However I've failed to take a snapshot recently so my only recourse is to copy the actual database across into a fresh install. Now once I've got the site1 folder configured as standard, can I just paste in my current database over the default one actinc will create?

Looking at the database it appears Actinic should pick it up straight away - but is this a pratical solution? Is there a likelyhood of causing trouble?

You will also need all the images and files referenced in the database, stored in the correct places, personally I would use your last snapshot to at least get the basics right before you copy over the database.

Is that critical? I'm nevous of making it more complex than it needs to be.

If the image is pointing to c:\my site\docs\image1.jpg on the old and on the new it sits in c:\new stuff\monkeys\image1.jpg then you will see nice red x's in lieu of the images ... if you are not selling red x's this may be an issue.

Importing ACD's is the best solution as the paths are resolved .. saying that you are always best storing images inside the site folder anyway to overcome such issues.

I'm using a handful of extra files / generic images so adjusting paths isn't a problem.
I'll need to reload my theme template from dreamweaver I imagine.

No, they are saved in the database in v8 and v9

If you can transfer the mdb over why can you not transfer the whole site 1 folder?

you best course would be to transfer the whole folder as Chris suggested and not just the db

but that would depend on teh kind of problems you had on your machine

I assume you have done a few Compact databases to try and sort out the problem, this is the wonder button of actinic that can solve so many problems for sometimes no logical reason, sometimes it needs doing more than once then "PHEW" it worked one of the few things actinic got right but I think its just a Access item by Microsoft

Maybe they should rename it "Blood pressure relief button"

Ok, this isn't working...

Somehow my stylesheet isn't being referenced properly now. I think everything else is working. The CSS is a mess.

Any ideas?

Your own stylesheet or added to the actinic one? Why not redo that part if that's what the issue is?

My Stylesheet I've tried every method of calling it I can think of. Sometimes IE 6 picks it up but firefox isn't at all.
