Lost New Products sections on homepage

I created a new page and then published the site again. Unfortunately by doing so I've lost the New Products section on the left menu bar and also at the bottom of the homepage.

As I was uploading there was the following message which I feel may have some large part to play

'Brochure Home page is being uploaded to http://www.salonstartup.co.uk/index.html. Any existing page called "index.html" will be overwritten. If you do not want to use Actinic's home page as your website home page then select 'No' to this message and once the upload has finished highlight the 'House' icon in the content tree and untick 'Use as Website Home Page' in the 'Page Details’ screen.

Select 'Yes' to upload this page.'

Safe to say I entered 'Yes'

Any clues as to how to restore it. If I look at the cached page in Google I can see it as it was

    Cheers all.

You must have ticked "use page as brochure home page" when you created the new page. Where is the original home page? What is it called now?

Did you take a snapshot before you made the changes?

When you go into Settings | Site Options | Layout | New Products List - what do you have for the location there?

I tried to restore a backup and it said
          FATAL ERRORS
It is not possible to import a snapshot created by a trial version of Actinic into a trial version of Actinic. Please license one of the sites with a valid Actinic license key.

Well that's a bit confusing as I wasn't aware it was a trial version, I got it from Computer Active magazine last year and it says it is the full version and doesn't need registration
          Any clues?

The freebie ones are limited in what you can do - backups may be one of them. No worries though - grab yourself 7-Zip and open the ACD ... you can then drag the content manually to replace the site folder contents. The main file is ActinicCatalog.mdb

Thanks, OK I've opened the acd this has generated 3 folders: Catalog_Original, CATALOG_SITE and NOT_CATALOG

Looking in the above folders CATALOG_SITE holds the file ActinicCatalog.mdb
I'd appreciate more detail in what to copy from where to where.

The current site folder has the following folders
              Common
              CommonOCC
              DesignPreviewHTML
              PreviewHTML
              SHipControl
              SiteHTML
              StartPanel

but the snapshot I opened only has
              CommonOCC
              SHipControl
              SiteHTML

Is it just a matter of copying the 3 folders from the snapshot to the corresponding folders on the current site folder?

What of the 4 folders on the current site for which there is no equivalent on the snapshot are the irrelevant for this purpose?

              Thanks again

I think you might find things a whole lot easier, and quicker, and safer, if you shell out for the full version of the software. If it is a trial version, then the trial only lasts 30 days and you've been using it for 60+. If it's a freebie, then it's a restricted use copy.

You may well be right, except of all the software included on the disk this definitely says Full version and registration not required.

I had the site just as I wanted it but think I fouled up when after adding one more page and pushing the publish button the system responded

'Brochure Home page is being uploaded to http://www.salonstartup.co.uk/index.html. Any existing page called "index.html" will be overwritten. Only after this did the New Products section disappear - it must be something simple I'm sure.

If this were truly the case, why would anyone ever bother to buy the real thing *sigh*

Adrian, did you buy this copy direct from Actinic?

                          Adrian,

Just to confirm the 'Full version' on the Computer Active disk is in fact the limited-function version (ie. the same 'freebie' version Actinic offer(ed?))

Serious? Oh yeah, just spotted it in one of his posts, sorry.

Don't take offense, but buy a licensed copy like the rest of Actinics users.

                              No offense taken and non meant by 'we appear to have gone off topic';
the version I used worked perfectly well for a month until I made one change and answered one question when publishing probably incorrectly.

I suspect I need to jont to confirm whether I can do the restore as requested earlier, unless anybody else can advise what parameter I need to tweak to restore the new products section.
