    Adding Layout To Innerlayout!?

Tell me if i'm way off the mark with this one, but this is something that's been annoying me for a while and would like some advice if anyone knows how to do it. I've been working a work around for sometime and it takes me ages to update our external pages.

We have many external pages on our site: returns, delivery, faq & help ect ect..

These are all external layouts that are not registered in Actinic, but added in addtional files so they are uploaded when we upload.

Can these pages be added to the 'Select Page Type' menu which in turn adds them to the innerlayout? or is there someway of register these layouts within actinic so they use my primary layout?

The overall design should be the same to avoid confusion - therefore simply create new layouts and add to the Web Page Inner Layout selector (MainArea)... when selected this will replace the middle bit of the site with your new content and leave the outer the same.. great for low maintenance.

If you are wanting different overall layouts (bad) you can add new layouts and add them to the selectors in Web Page Outer Layout

I sorta see where you coming from but i'm finding it abit difficult to execute it! lol.

Ok i've created a layout in my Web Page Inner Layout and linked it to my (Main Area Selector) and moved my layout over in the values tab 'layouts offered by this selector'. How do i get this page to show? Am i now creating a section and linking my new layout to that section? Sorry for my stupidity.

I was looking at how the contact us page looked in the Web Page Inner Layout and wanted to copy that or is that not possible?

What exactly are you wanting to add in?

If it is just text etc why not use a modified fragment? You can even copy and paste you existing HTML code into a text only fragment wrapping it all between !!< ... >!!

I've registered the layout within the 'Web Inner Layout' like you side, but i am wantin this layout to be linked to my head navigation, which is http://www.classixshop.com/acatalog/returns.php. but i would like the laout to use my site layout (i only have one anyway)lol.

Reason being, because these pages are external at the moment if the site layout changes in anyway the external pages become different in design. Our live site should show you. Try clicking on our returns and you'll see what i mean. Cheers FrAz

Am I missing the point - what's wrong with just using brochure pages?
If you have a problem with using fragments (although they should work for you) then you can place a custom variable in your layout that is of file type and maintain the content in the separate file.

Who said anything about brochure pages or fragments?

Can i register a layout like the example above and have it use my innerlayout i.e. primary layout!?

We don't use our brochure page(s) and would like to use fragments. How does the 'Contact Us' page work in the 'Web Inner Layout' can that not be replicated to do what i'm wanting?

What you are trying to acheive could be easily done using a Brochure Page.

Create a new brochure Page, titled Returns
Within the new page create a fragment, Returns Policy for example and then paste this text:

Returning your goods is simple. If you are anything less than delighted with an item for any reason, you can send it back to us within 14 days of receipt. You may return any item in a condition of reasonable care (i.e. a resalable condition) for a refund for the price of the goods.

                into the fragment's "text" field.

No need for new layouts... Unless I've missed something.

Ok this method with the brochure pages seems to be a little more up my street. Reason why we've never used our brochure pages is because nothing ever shows up in them if i creat one!? Is there a possible error with my brochure pages or are they not configured properly!? Anyway i've followed WebD's instructions and created a brochure page with a fragment with displaying our returns policy. What would my next port of call be in trying to get the brochure page to show my fragment? It must be a brochure setting as the fragment appears if i move it into our catalog...

There's no reason I can think of that the fragment shouldn't display by default, did you "apply" the fragment changes before previewing the brochure page?

You will have deleted the fragment layout from the list layout I suspect, so when it goes to loop through showing them, it is in fact told not to do anything. Have a look in your fragment list layout if there is a pink selector included, if not, that is your issue, revert it back to factory settings in the design library would be easiest to fix it.

Could be that you've save you brochure pages as .php and not .html

Have you done what Lee suggested and checked for the "BrochureFragmentList" within your "Standard Brochure Page Bulk" Layout?

Both of those layouts will be in pink font
