    Email problems.

This information I get after a test when I select localhost in the SMTP settings and have username and password ticked. With my email username and password entered: I also get this same information with localhost entered and username and password unticked, and the username and password blank.

    Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
    server: passed
    connection: passed
    sockets: passed
    communications: failed
    authorisation: failed
message: 435 Unable to authenticate at present

This information I get after a test when I select mail.poshflush.com in the SMTP settings and have username and password ticked. With my email username and password entered:
    Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
    server: passed
    connection: failed
    sockets: passed
    communications: failed
    authorisation: failed
    message: Connection timed out

My web hoster is Hostpapa and over the weekend they replaced my mailserver in my cgi-bin to localhost. But this still gave the same issues above.

Anyone with any ideas would be grateful..

Have you tried the settings in Outlook or simiar?

    What do your hosts say?

To be honest if you host has changed all the mail servers, then you need to ask them what the settings are likely to be. If your domain or localhost does not work after the change then you really need to talk to them

My outlook setting work fine with no issues. Just can't send emails from the website. Order Received and Contact us etc...
The web hosts are still baffled and working on the issue. They are also waiting for any information that can arise on here.... bit worrying...

It might be worth setting up a test page on your server that uses formmail. Although not exactly the same as Actinic it might narrow down the problem and would be independant of Actinic.

There's lots of information on the usage of formmail on the net and your host should also be able to help you set this up.

There's not really much to add from this side. Actinic's ability to talk to mail servers is proven in however many 1,000s of installations there are. We can sometimes help people try different things but it sounds as if you've tried them already in which case it's probably up to your hosts to identify the problem with their mail settings.

A search for the error message on google points towards server and configuration errors. It doesn't sound like anything actinic is doing.

That's my thoughts to but I had to ask. Thanks for the replies. I'll keep working with the host! Anyone know anyone that also uses Hostpapa?
I've 6 sites with them with no issues apart from this E commerce one!!

Just to update this issue is now resolved. As I had the same email password for 5 email accounts on the hostpapa server. This somehow locked up the email server. I was still allowed to send mail on already set up accounts but I was not able it swap accounts on actinic. Now all passwords have been reset and are now all different. Refreshed website and now functioning correctly.
