Just wondering if it's just product count that is in play in this instance or products and combinations/permutations.

I would think the 10% figure only needs to be approximate. I'm sure the idea is to keep the value as low as possible to minimise the impact of the bug while still keeping some cache benefits.
I've used it with as little as 3% without seeing any problems. (although I haven't done any uploading at that figure).

Good morning,
I have noticed a massive decrease in speed with our V9 site on the office side. We went live yesterday from our original v7 site, I have been developing and testing the v9 with small number of orders. Yesterday changed to the v9 and imported the orders from v7, all went well, switched to production mode, few issues on uploading, crashing etc (hope that is fixed in the next version). Anyway now editing the content, checking stock etc., very slow, there has been no increase in the products but the increase in the number of orders.
So what I am trying to say is that, speed issues seen with number of products etc., discussed in this thread, are they the same issues that I have seen with reduction of speed and performance when the order number has been increase.
For example changing a product details, unchecking 'Stock monitoring' and clicking on the next product would typically take 12 to 15 seconds.
I have not yet tried the VB code but wanted to raise this as it does make any editing of the catalogue painfully slow.
Thanks MashMash

Hi, I just tried this as the content tree was taking upto 30 seconds to move around - I have around 450 products. However, when I double click on the file - it just opens up in a text file - it doesn't ask me to place it anywhere.
"It firsts prompts you to select your "Site" folder containing the database you want to change, it then prompts you for the new value for the 'sData' field".
I have named it sData.vbs - does it matter what it's called as long as it ends in .vbs? I'm sure I'm missing something simple here?
Dorian.

and ensure that you are changing the file extension and not leaving yourself with a file actually called something like <whatever>.vbs.txt (which would open as a text file)
Try a "save as" with the text file open and choose "all files" in the file type dropdown, then make sure you enter the .vbs as the only file extension.Fergus Weir - teclan ltd

Cache Update
Hi Ben
Good to meet you yesterday - thought the day was very enlightening - particularly the pre-auth possibilities with payments - I was told that ac. payments couldnt do this.
Is the issue of upload speed with the cache fix still present.
As you know from yesterday, I download and upload a whole stack of websites everyday for customers.
I think the loop goes through about 200 sites now (these were the subsites we set up for customers for which we handle all the uploading, downloading, order printing etc. etc. automatically and then automate emails to the customer with any orders).
Trouble is, broadband here is - well probably best not to use words like that on the forum - so if upload speed is an issue, I can't really use the patch until we get our new webserver in place in Feb.
Many thanks

Thanks Fergus.
Yes, I was doing this - and indeed the file is saved as a VBS file and not text file - the thumbnail has a squiggly 'S' on it instead of the horizontal lines a text file has. I have checkd and it's also called sData.vbs with no .txt on the end.
I have tried again cutting and pasting it into notepad and saving again - but still when I double click on it, it simply opens up and doesn't direct me anywhere.
Maybe I'm missing some software to get the script to work?
Dorian.

It just opens up as a text file - nothing more. The knowledgebase here: http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=44629 says it "should prompt you to select your "Site" folder containing the database you want to change, it then prompts you for the new value for the 'sData' field".

Morning Julian,
Great to meet you!
There has been a real variety of feedback with regards to the sData 'hack', some people have reported it makes little difference to their upload, others have reported it slows it significantly. The best thing to do is give it a go!
Sadly this development came too late for v9.0.4 but we are working on a performance improvement in this area soon.
WRT upload speed, don't forget compressed upload.Benjamin Dyer

I think you said earlier that you do see the vbs icon though when you rename the text file to .vbs - if so then try this...
Open file explorer and go to Tools Folder - Options - File Types. Find vbs in the list and check it is set to open with Microsoft Windows Base as per the attached image.Attached Files
