Going back to v8 from v9

Had a conversation with a friend yesterday and we were discussing the merits of v9 against v8.

Random Q, but is there any harm in going back to v8 with a site that has been used for a few months in v9.... or would it be best to go back to an olde world v8 snapshot (before the site was initially upgraded to v9)?

There are some fundamental changes between v8 & v9 so safest to roll back to v8 ACD and build the site back up.
