Add to Cart Without Selecting Permutation

    Good Morning.

Permutations on a Monday morning. 'nuff said.

Downloaded the orders for the first time since Friday and noticed a couple of 'Invoice and Payment Before Delivery' payments, with a £0 total cost. Usually this is what I expect for Digital Downloads, but apparently not.

Okay, here we have the Desser Elmy Cane Furniture (). The customer has purchased the Suite and Foot Stool - but has not selected any of the permutations, hence the zero-rated price. Price is dependent on the permutation.

What I would like to do is set a custom error message in effect:

'Sorry please select one of the options' - when the customer clicks Add to Cart without selecting an option. I know I can set the first (ie. Grade A) option to 'Default' so it is checked as standard, but confusing the public is a very easy thing to do, especially when it logically works in my Monday morning head and not theirs

Perhaps there's a simple solution to the problem - as the customer wanted to buy the suite and foot stool, but thought this is how things would go regardless if they selected a fabric option - ie. they put their details in and print a receipt and wait for us to do the rest.

Why is it Monday morning is always when the light spears through the cracks yet I've already got a list of a million 'n' 1 things to do

    Cheers,
    Grant

You could probably use a bit of JavaScript, that checks for the options, and then checks if one has been selected.

have a look at Google for topics on this
"If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions"

Currently it's also possible to not check any option and proceed to the checkout.

This is what the customer has done, followed by sending an "I'm very confused" e-mail.

Hm, perhaps a bit of javascript verification is required, great Looks like it's back to the drawing board for this one. Or I could follow Actinic's advice and avoid the permutation issue by creating a separate product for each grade. Yeah, great idea, triple the size of the section just to avoid permutations

        Happy days

        Thanks guys
