Search appears to find items that are hidden

I have hidden certain products and sections on our website http://www.modelrailwaysdirect.co.uk

When you search for a hidden item (e.g. R2468) the search shows the item, and the link is correct - but does not work as it is hidden.

Can anyone tell me how to update the search to exclude the hidden items?

When a product or section is set to be hidden it shouldn't be uploaded or indexed. When you hide a product do you hide the containing section or/and the product itself?

If you have SPP and only hiding the section try also hiding the product. IIRC there were reports of some issues with hiding the section not cascading to the product correctly and then it might get indexed.

We have the same problem. I have to delete the products before an upload and then undelete them after it.

common problem.
Un-hidden products within hidden sections are NOT excluded from search results.
You'll need to hide the products individually also.
there is a DB fix for it, in the forum somewhere
I think TraceyG posted it (not that that narrows it down but I can't post it myself at the mo)

Thanks for all your help - hiding the individual products appears to have done the trick although I had just done this manually before the database update was posted. Has any one reported this as a bug?

See the link above - it is a known issue but it may not make it in v904.
