Can anyone tell me how I can make my company logo so it goes across the whole of the top of the website.

whenever I upload a logo it cuts half off

I have the logo from my old website but it is in about 4 different files which need peacing together (if that makes sense) How do I upload all the files when it appears there is only room for one

Sorry for all the questions but I dont have a clue

Jacqui, you need to make some money so you can employ a designer ASAP. If you start messing with the site, that could be the one area that you actually make worse if you break it. If the site is working, let it be and save every spare penny you can. Spend all your spare time marketing, improving content and increasing sales, so you can afford to pay your designer ASAP. It is very difficult to start getting involved doing the things you want to do, when you have nil knowledge in these areas, it will almost certainly end in tears.

Getting stuck in and trying to do things is fine, but trying to diffuse a bomb is something best left to someone in the know. This is like watching an accident unfold in slow motion. If you carry on, please please please make sure you are backing up and testing things religiously.

Also, there are many designers that post on this forum - they are all good people. Try picking up the phone and talking to them - it won't cost anything at that stage.

Although a local designer isn't always the best designer, you may find having someone local is of benefit to you. Someone you can call upon or maybe even have some onsite training if you are determined to get involved. The actinic site lists aproved partners in your area too. actlance.co.uk could be another avenue.

If we work on what your previous designer said at £2000, that will be a design to take you forward for the next 3 years, so costs around £660 per year or £12ish per week. That's incredible value as long as he/she does their work correctly.

Don't part with your money until you have seen the new site and you could even put it up for review on here before paying if you are nervous about getting the right designer.

you may find it useful to approach a few designers who are active here and set a budget, ask what they can do for £500 for example. You will be amazed how a site can change from pretty naff to pretty good with a good designer eye. you can then spend the next £500 when you have the revenue from extra sales.

dont get to hung up on your own ideas, listen to a designer - their ideas are often in tune with the market and will help to sell more. some of your ideas may be good but so will theirs.. just be openminded
