Louise, I'm glad you've sorted out the site, but I'm a little upset with you about the way in which you reacted to to Lee's post.

You, as a designer, should have told your client to backup regularly, up to every 15mins if lots of work is going on. Either you didn't impress the importance of backing up, or they didn't listen, in which case I hope your charging them for the extra work you are doing. Otherwise I fear you will be bailing them out time and time again.

As for this comment it is evident that the obvious did need stating, because if one person reading this thread starts backing up because of it, then surely that's a good thing?

+1 from me too. I have it running all the time, backing up to network storage. That and regular (at least once daily) snapshots have kept my sites safe.

Agree 100% with the comments about Actinic cover.

Agree with ALL the comments about backing up - and for the record I did tell my customer to backup regularly.

Sorry if you took my comments about the 'stating the obvious' comments that way, but it sometimes appears there are some very helpful people on here who offer great advice, but seem revel in outlining silly mistakes - its not necessary, I KNOW (as does my customer) that it was stupid not to take backups, theres no need to try to make us feel even smaller than we already do.

Thanks for all the helpful and constructive comments, I'll get my customer to download the Mole End backup software as that seems to be the best way forward. Having looked at Mole End I can only see an 'orders database backup' freebie - presumably this won't backup the products/sections?

It's called Easy Orders Backup, and it backs up the entire .mdb database which includes product content

It backs up the MBD file but not the images etc so you still need snapshots every now and then but between them the mdb will save all the important stuff

              That sounds ideal. Thanks
