Suspending ordering to allow hosting move

1) How do I "suspended" or "pause" ordering on a client's site so I can transfer to another host without orders being placed during the move,

and 2) Does any kind of message appear to the end user when the site is in "suspended"/"paused" mode? or will I need to put manually a message to let people know ordering will not be possible?

Tick "Suspended"
Untick "Allowed"

And yes, afaik, once republished, there is a notice saying the catalog has been suspended.

Nothing to stop you adding one of your own to the home page tho.

In fact, all Add to Cart buttons are replaced with the text ''Catalog Suspended"
