Commission by Product Type

I don't know if anyone else has needed to do this for paying out sales commissions, but thought I'd ask and see.

I want to pay different levels of commission to affiliates depending on the product type(s) that their customer orders. Maximum of 4 product types.

To do that, I need to know the value (excluding tax and shipping) by product type that an order contains e.g. order value (excluding tax and shipping)= £50, value of type 1 products = £22.50, value of type 2 products = £27.50

Those product type order values would need to be available as a (hidden)variable on the receipt page so that the information can be sent electronically to the affiliate system.

If anyone has done this or can point me in the right direction on how to do it or even how/who to get it done, that would be great.

Just to keep people updated, I haven't been able to get any suggestions on how to address this problem/requirement from any of the usual places or gurus. I can't even find someone who will code it for me as a paid piece of work.

I have looged it as a support request with Actinic to see if they can offer any suggestions. Last I heard it had now been referred to the Actinic Development Team.

I'm sure I can't be the only one that wants to pay variable commission linked to the type of product sold, so I'll post here to let others know if/when I get a solution.
