We have a server running 24/7 but independently from our Actinic machine, which we cannot change, running both Windows and Ubuntu on dual boot. As far as I can tell the only way to retrieve/check orders is by, one way or another, opening up Actinic and pressing the "Retrieve orders" button. Even Mole End's One Stop Automation has to launch Actinic each time.
Our inventory has over 5000 products. Launching Actinic each time from a design machine is clearly not very efficient, and much of the time Actinic is not running in the background as the machine is used for various other design jobs.
Is there a way to check and download orders on another machine that doesn't run Actinic? There could be a remote link to the Actinic MDB file from the server if needed. Surely there must be something, in-house or third party, that allows this to be done WITHOUT having to physically run Actinic and click "Retrieve orders"? The orders could be left on the web server, or deleted. I guess you could compare the idea to a POP3 account... is it possible?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
