Can you 'hide' customer accounts temporarily?

Hi all - hope someone can help with this...
Is it possible to temporarily suspend customer accounts for a certain period of time (i.e. a month) or do you have to delete the account and then re-enter.
I ask because we'd like to suspend our customer account discounted prices in December (when we're busy and could do with the extra margin) and then re-establish in January.

Thinking aloud - you could remove the login link perhaps.

Business Settings > Ordering > Uncheck Allow orders from customer accounts.

I'd find this highly annoying if I were registered with you. If you only have a few customer accounts, you could go through them and change the customer group so they were on a different price schedule.
