Switching between VAT inc. and VAT excl. prices online
28-May-2009, 05:28 PM
Just to double check... is it possible to let customers switch between VAT inclusive and VAT exclusive prices with a touch of a button?
thanks.

You might be able to include some js to do this but it would get confusing because the cart must either be inclusicve or exclusive only.

You do have the ability to show both prices at the same time

Have you seen ebuyer.com VAT button? This type of button is great for both: Consumers and B2B customers.
We have the ability to display both prices, but its not tidy enough in my oppinion when customer logs in he sees 5+ prices...
RRP
Retail VAT ex. (Retail VAT inc.)
Trade VAT ex. (Trade VAT inc.) and... prices dependant on item amounts...eg.
(10 items or more £5.94 (£6.83 inc. VAT))
e.g. look on our
adhesive page
so is it possible to create js so all of us could benefit from it?

Why not do the following...
1. Set up actinic to display both inc and ex VAT prices
2. In your price layout, place the inc VAT prices in one div and ex VAT prices in a hidden div of their own
3. Use a jquery function to toggle show/hide the two divs (maybe place this in the header)
You could even get the site to remember to show inc or ex with a cookie
