Different Attributes for a duplicate product

Is it possible to have a duplicate product, but change the attributes, choices or components ?

I.E. I have 1 pair of shoes in the main shoe section, I want a duplicate pair in the Size 9 Only section, but in this section, only have size 9 available as a choice ?

    Any idea

    Thanks.

You'll probably need to just paste rather than paste as duplicate and alter it yourself, unless you get into some rather complex coding.

      Thanks lee.

That kinda of makes the point of a duplicate product pointless ? as I wanted to be able to change the price on the main product, and it automatically updates the second .. bearing in mind I have a size 2 section, a size 2 sale section ... everytime i change a price, change description, or hide an out of stock product I have to do it 3 times ...

Complicated coding is fine if thats what needs be

I understand your point, the counter would be that you are not after a duplicate, you're after something close to one, hence the difficulty being experienced. Off the top of my head you are going to need to create your own section level variable, which you use to define the size for that section. The attribute list for the duplicates will either need to be customised to only show options that equal the section level variable or you may need to delve into a duplicate attribute list to use just for these particular products.

An interesting challenge, but could take quite a bit of work. Just make sure in duplicate field config that you cannot make these editable, i'm pretty sure you can't though.

Ok, the logic works if I test on a main product, but with a duplicate product, although I have made the selector configurable in duplicate, I can't select the revised choice list layout in a component, therefore the attribute just uses parent which is stuck on the original choice list layout (even though it is not greyed out now ...

            Does that make sense >?
