I'm getting exactly the same symptoms as is Dovroc.
I am testing the upgrade of our site from V8 HIZA to V9 JHZA
Protx/Sage Pay no longer works with the Pre-authorise transactions selected, but does work when I select 'Charge Transactions Immediately'
It is my understanding that my client changed to 'pre-auth' in V8 because customers were occasionally getting duplicate orders (and charges) with 'charge transactions immediately' selected.
