Inporting orders

I recently upgraded from v7 to v9 and did the upgrade checklist where you suspend online ordering, retrieve orders, import orders into v9, refresh v9 and then allow ordering again.

However, for a week or so I had to revert back to using my v7 site online as there were a few gremlins with the v9 site. I repeated the above process when I put v9 live again but one thing I forgot to do was import the orders from v7 for that week. The v9 site has now been live for a couple of weeks now and lots of orders have come in and i've moved quite a few to completed.

Question is - if I go to import orders from the v7 site now what will happen? Ideally I just want it to import the orders that came in during that one week and not affect the rest of orders - am I asking too much here? :-)

Out of interest, what effect would it have if I did this Lee? Would it overwrite the orders that have come in since? I could do with importing them in some way if at all possible as I need to generate some sales reports :-(

the restriction here is the import feature - it will only overwrite orders and will not merge orders... irritating but sadly true

I see - so the only other possible option would be to try doing some sort of cut/copy/paste exercise between the v7 and v9 orders in the access databases, although that could cause all kinds of other issues I imagine! Oh flip!!!

The easiest way to resolve this is to reenter the missing orders manually (making sure that no emails are sent to the customer) and then to update the order number string in the access database directly - it's not used as a key and so I feel that it's safe to change it, I wouldn't recommend cutting and pasting parts of the order tables.

Jan - never thought of doing it that way. Just tried it out on a couple of re-entered orders from way back and it works. Genius. Thanks
